WPCC - CANADA DAY AT "THE FORKS" - JULY 1, 2011

Happy Canada Day

Canada Day turned out to be quite different this year. For starters, the rains began almost immediately. All of the pin displays had to be covered with plastic until the rain clouds finally parted after a few hours. The crowd was extremely sparse during the rain storm but when the rain stopped, people started showing up in droves. It turned out to be quite a nice sunny day after all. Hundreds and hundreds of people showed up at our pin tables to view the displays and/or buy or trade pins including visitors from as far away as Great Britain and the USA. Several pin club members took part in the pin displays or dropped by to say hello. People who came out to The Forks were all decked out in their finest Canada Day celebrations gear.

There was lots of entertainment and food for everyone to enjoy. As in past years, aboriginal performers dressed in their finest colorful costumes performed traditional dances for the crowds. For those in the crowd who like to party into the night, there were stage shows and fireworks.

Next year will be the pin club's 25th Anniversary. Come and join in on the fun and help us celebrate our 25th at the 2012 Canada Day pin show.

Have a great day.
